Driving Innovation in the Automotive Industry
The Sabreen Group delivers robust manufacturing processes that withstand the demanding automotive environment, from engine components to advanced lighting and interior systems.
Durability in Demanding Environments
Our core focus is on process solutions that enhance the durability of plastic and composite components. Whether it's ensuring an adhesive bond holds under stress or that a laser mark remains legible after years of heat and abrasion, our game-changing processes are guaranteed to meet and exceed OEM standards.
Our Automotive Application Expertise
Component Traceability
We create high-speed, permanent laser marks (Data Matrix, QR codes, VINs) on engine blocks, transmission housings, and fuel systems for cradle-to-grave traceability, quality control, and recall management.
Interior & Exterior Components
Our expertise includes creating "day/night" backlit buttons, bonding dissimilar materials for dashboards, and applying durable, weather-resistant coatings for exterior trim, lighting, and sensor housings.
EV & Advanced Systems
We provide solutions for Electric Vehicles, including laser welding of plastic battery enclosures, marking high-voltage cables, and ensuring strong adhesive bonds for lightweight composite structures and sensor arrays.
Optimizing Your Production Line
Our goal is to deliver a competitive advantage. We analyze your existing manufacturing process and develop integrated, six-sigma quality solutions that increase throughput, reduce waste, and lower overall production costs. We provide turnkey systems that work from day one. That work is delivered by our plastics engineering services group. If you are still selecting a traceability method, our head-to-head comparison of laser marking and inkjet printing covers permanence, throughput and cost per part.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which automotive parts are laser marked?
Interior components such as dashboard panels, center consoles, door trim and instrument clusters carry part numbers, date codes and manufacturer information. Under-hood components including electrical housings and fluid reservoirs are marked for the same reasons. Documented work includes interior levers and capless fuel fillers.
How are backlit day/night automotive buttons produced?
The part is painted and the legend is then removed by laser ablation through the paint layers, so the character reads as part of the surface in daylight and illuminates at night. It depends on holding ablation depth against paint film build tightly enough that the legend is clean without breaking through.
Why is laser welding used on automotive assemblies?
Because it produces a clean, particulate-free, hermetic joint with heat generated at the interface rather than applied from outside, so outer surfaces and internal components are unaffected. Fluid-carrying and electronic assemblies are the usual candidates, where vibration or ultrasonic welding would risk damage or debris.
What causes paint and ink adhesion failures on automotive plastics?
Nearly always the surface rather than the coating -- mold release, slip agents, low surface energy substrates and plasticizer migration. Interior trim materials are particularly prone, since the additives that give the desired feel and UV stability are often the same ones that migrate to the surface and interfere with adhesion.
